BRDL is a version of Wordle for bird lovers in which only bird names can be used to solve the puzzle each day. It's not like Wordle in that the mystery word doesn't necessarily have to be five letters long. It was made by Alex Tomilson, who is a well-known graphic designer. It's a new challenge for Wordle fans. This game's banding codes can be challenging.
In this game, players have to guess the four-letter banding codes that scientists use to shorten the names of species (as in GREG for great egret and MODO for mourning dove).
Banding codes in North America can have either four or six letters. Bird codes and banding codes are each made up of four letters. The most important thing to remember about BRDL is that the codes come from the official Bird Banding Laboratory and follow a specific set of rules, which are explained below.
BOBOLINK: BOBO
OSPREY: OSPR
GYRFALCON: GYRF
MOURNING DOVE: MODO
GREAT EGRET: GREG
COMMON NIGHTHAWK: CONI
GREAT BLUE HERON: GBHE

FLORIDA SCRUB-JAY: FLSJ
EASTERN WHIP-POOR-WILL: EWPW
GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCH: GCRF
WEDGE-RUMPED STORM-PETREL: WRSP
