What is Heardle?

Heardle is a fun variation on the Wordle format in which participants listen to the intro of a song and attempt to name it. Using only brief excerpts from the intro, players try to guess the song from a pool of tracks that have been streamed the most in the last 10 years.

How to Play Heardle

In each round, players will hear three seconds of a song and try to figure out what it is from what they heard. The player will have six chances to choose the right song from the list. When a guess is wrong or skipped, the next three seconds are added to the audio clip. Players can also pass up their chance to listen to more of the selected song. If the user can't guess the song after six tries, they have to wait until the next day's Heardle. A countdown timer shows how long it will be until the next day's song starts streaming.

The auto-fill pop-up box prompts players to choose from a list of auto-filled songs and artists, so misspellings are not a concern.

Here's what to do:

  • Listen to the beginning of today's song and try to guess what it is.
  • If you guess wrong or skip a guess, you can hear more of the song.
  • Try to get it right with as few guesses as possible, then share your score.
  • At the bottom of the game is a clock with 30 seconds on it. For each wrong answer, more of the song is played.

Is there a limit to how much you can listen to the song?

Heardle is a game where the player has six chances to guess the song of the day. But they can listen to the parts of the song that they already know as many times as they want. This is helpful because listeners can't always guess the song right away, even when they know the answer.

What's different about Heardle from Wordle?

Wordle and Heardle have nothing to do with each other. Even though some parts of Heardle and Wordle are the same, like the daily puzzle and the six guesses, Heardle is very different.

One big difference is, of course, that it has nothing to do with words and is all about music. A skip button enables you to get closer to the answer without guessing, unlike Wordle where you must guess to acquire more information.

Pop music fans will definitely like Heardle game. It's fun to guess a song by just a few bars you know, but super frustrating when you're trying to guess one that's on the tip of your tongue-not to mention all the songs with similar intros that fool people. Have fun with Heardle today!
