Queens

Queens is a logic puzzle played on a grid divided into colored regions. Your goal is to place queens so that every row, every column, and every colored region contains exactly one queen. There is one more important rule: two queens cannot touch each other, even diagonally.

Every puzzle has a unique solution that can be found through deduction, making Queens a game of careful elimination rather than random guessing.

MASTER THE QUEEN PLACEMENT RULES

Each queen you place must satisfy three conditions:

  • Only one queen per row.
  • Only one queen per column.
  • Only one queen per colored region.

Queens cannot occupy neighboring cells, including diagonally.

Cross off cells where a queen cannot go. As more impossible positions are eliminated, the correct locations become easier to identify. If two queens conflict, the game highlights the problem so you can adjust your placement.

Play Daily Or Keep Going

Daily mode gives everyone the same puzzle each day, with boards becoming more challenging throughout the week.

Want more? Unlimited mode generates fresh boards from 5x5 to 11x11 across four difficulty levels. You can also use the Archive to return to previous daily puzzles.

TIPS AND TRICKS

  • Narrow the board step by step
  • Start with the smallest colored regions.
  • Cross out cells in a row or column after placing its queen.
  • Eliminate every cell touching an existing queen.
  • Check regions with only a few available cells first.
  • Look for regions restricted to the same rows or columns.
  • Use crosses to track impossible positions instead of relying on memory.
  • On difficult boards, test a possible queen and follow the deductions it creates.
